A talented cellular engineer to complement our bioproduction platform development and play a key role in driving the transition to animal-free agriculture.

about us

Unicorn Biotechnologies is an early-stage biotech company backed by Entrepreneur First, SOSV and other leading US/European investors. We are developing a next-generation biomanufacturing platform to accelerate the cultivated meat revolution. By removing the biomanufacturing bottleneck preventing cultivated meat transitioning from the lab bench to supermarket shelves. Our technology will create more just, safe and sustainable food systems and drive the transition to animal-free agriculture.

the role

You will be involved in developing and supporting our cell engineering program in conjunction with informing, assisting and testing prototype devices internally and with external collaborators/customers. The fast pace of a startup will mean that you will be expected to manage multiple development projects simultaneously working and hitting milestones under tight time constraints.

we value

Scientifically curious/creative thinkers with an ability to generate and execute new testable ideas and a willingness to challenge dogma.

Individuals with a meticulous approach to data organization with an ability to work on multiple projects in parallel and a bias for action under tight time constraints.

Collaborative and communicative people who thrive as part of a tight knit but technically diverse team.

- Significant experience using different cell state manipulation technologies (e.g. CRISPR-Cas9, mRNA, siRNA etc.) and associated analytical workflows (e.g. RNA isolation, qRT-PCR, flow cytometry/image analysis, etc.).

- Significant experience in the design and execution of molecular biology workflows (e.g. optimizing molecular cloning and plasmid/viral vector construction).

- Willingness and ability to set up new laboratory processes in our new facility.

- Ability to collaborate/communicate complex topics with other multi-disciplinary scientists/engineers.

- You will likely have a PhD and postdoctoral/industry experience in molecular/synthetic biology. However, if you can demonstrate the necessary skills and experience for the role, we will consider you from whatever walk of life you come to us from.

nice to have
